Kuntao 3 day In-Tents Camp
On the 1st day, that Friday, there will be a good Kali/Arnis/Eskrima
make this event a well rounded FMA extravaganza!
29th & 30th, 2017
This is one of our summer annual events that is always a big one.
If you are into learning Filipino martial arts, you will not want to miss
out on this one.
602 Southford Rd
11 acres where you can pitch a tent to eat and sleep then train all
day...and have fun.
Yes, July is hot. We solved that problem, there is a big
in-ground pool to dive into in between training to cool off. There is also a
pavilion to train under in case of rain.
It would be
crazy to miss out on this event!
This is going to be approximately 8 hours a day of intense
Kuntao training. There will be breaks for lunch, water and rest in between
Friday - This year, we will start
with the 5 foot staff and spear tactics from Kali. I will give a progression
so you know how to use these types of weapons.
Saturday - Kuntao is an infighting style for the most part due to the
fact most fights. No matter what kind of battle it is, ends up in some sort
of clench. Recognizing strikes spontaneously during live action is something
many martial artists tend to lack skill in. I will go over the footwork and
show you how it is used to monitor your opponent or opponents movement. This
will teach you how to be in position for counter-offensive follow-ups needed
during self defense situations at long range. Foot work is done during the
clench as well, even if your opponent grabs you from behind...we will cover
those areas also. Being able to recover from a failed technique all boils
down to monitoring your opponent coinciding with proper footwork. the
footwork in Kuntao, this style anyway, is very sophisticated.
Sunday - Kuntao ground work is completely different than what we see
in main stream grappling that is popular today. Here, we will show you how
to escape a grappler for street oriented situations. The second half we will
show some worst case scenario situations when you land on your back and
someone wants to punch your lights out or even trying to stab you, which is
not easy at all. We have all seen how hard it is to contend with when an MMA
fighter has his opponent on the ground with his head and back up against the
fence. Though it is a difficult situation, you will see how it is done in
the Kuntao fighting methods. These situations can be taken to any extreme
necessary to just controlling your opponent to maiming or even killing if
need be. Kuntao is an ancient warrior system that does not leave out certain
scenarios, ignoring certain potentially bad situations. Ancient people would not be that
stupid thinking they will never end up like that.
Around 5pm Sunday, questions will be answered, pictures can be taken to preserve good memories, then
the goodbyes to everyone you will have worked with over the weekend, then we all go home
with a lot of Kuntao knowledge. I would say
prepare to go home approximately 6 pm to be safe.
